"For many, skiing encompasses all aspects of life. Saying, "I am a skier" means more than just another pass time you participate in. It goes much deeper to the core, as tangible as your breath - essential to your being but near impossible to display to others." by: Backcountry Blog in Honor of HZ Skier Jim Franklin

TJ Schiller X-Games Dub 1620
posted: Jan 31, 2010

Yeah, thats right, I had to think about it too. A 1620, WOW! It was the first time ever and it was stomped, grab the whole way through with a half inversion. I think he was probably just hoping to land straight! These guys are really raising the bar for all snow sports. They may need to move the landing out, he went huge check out the video.

Powder Mountain Jan 24th; SUPER DEEP!
posted: Jan 23, 2010

After 3 days of skiing some of the best powder skied I am sitting in Ogden sipping a cold brew. Each of the last 3 days I can say fits into the top 10 ski days I have ever had; and each day kept getting better. It was really hard to believe and actually impossible for me to attempt to explain...

Storm totals in some places was over 50 inches as of Saturday night! The snow was unstable on top of old hard pack and there were 2 in bound avalanches today, no one was completely buried so that was good. Because of this we spent much of the day below tree line poaching some untouched lines sporting all 3-4 feet of the light Utah powder, it was nothing short of epic these 3 days.

I posted a couple pics, no action shots today we could not bring ourselves to stop and setup for a shot, it was just too good. It was still snowing so the flat light makes them tough to make out.

This is a pic of a chute opening to a face with only one lonely track.

This is a pic of the very top of my ski pole in the snow. Yes, it is placed upright in the snow (the pole is about 40 inches).
