"For many, skiing encompasses all aspects of life. Saying, "I am a skier" means more than just another pass time you participate in. It goes much deeper to the core, as tangible as your breath - essential to your being but near impossible to display to others." by: Backcountry Blog in Honor of HZ Skier Jim Franklin

Shane McConkey, 1969-2009
posted: 29 Mar 2009

Shane McConkey was killed ski-BASE accident on March 26th in the Italian Dolomites.

Shane was an incredible skier, a visionary of the sport, one of the founders of ski-BASE jumping and a all around great guy with an incredible sense of humor. Shane was one of the first skier to bring the "fat" ski movement. He had many jaw-dropping segments in ski films and also played the famous character of saucerboy.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shanes family and friends. RIP Shane...

Utah 2009! POWDER TIME
posted: 22 Feb 2009

We hit up Utah this week. The snow is good, its been about 4 days since the last snow and we are still finding freshies. Us east coasters aren't afraid to dig for some fresh turns... We hit Powder Mountain on Thurs, actually got a heli run in, they had open seats so we got to fill em; 2800 vertical of fresh turns and my legs were spent. Snowbird was good on Friday, got windy the end of the day. Yesterday we hit Powder Mountain, did a little backcountry cat skiing/riding and still managed to find some incredible snow.
